Within the project COVID-19: Civil Society Resilience and Sustainability “Green Armenia” Environmental Educational NGO implemented training-discussion on the topic of Environmental Protection and Human Rights in Vanadzor, Lori region. The guest lecturer was expert in ecological rights, lawyer Nazeli Vardanyan.
Taking into account the forested areas in Vanadzor and generally in Lori region, Nazeli Vardanyan spoke about ecological importance of forests, the situation with forests in Armenia and projects implemented by her NGO (Nazeli Vardanyan is the president of “Armenian Forests” NGO). Other problematic issues were also discussed such as the situation with mining, small hydropower projects, obstacles for communities to participate in decision making in Lori region as well as throughout Armenia.
The project COVID-19: Civil Society Resilience and Sustainability is implemented by ERIM International French non-commercial organization and Human Rights House Yerevan with the financial support of the European Union in Armenia. The goal of the project is to promote sustainability of civil society in countries of Eastern Partnership for mitigating the immediate and longer-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
